ULTRAVIOLENCE

UltraViolence is a play that incorporates elements of body horror genre through a series of
metatheatrical and satirical scenes. Taking a place in one apartment, it intertwines appearances
of otherwordly characters – including the mysterious, excessively sarcastic mistress of
ceremony, Echo – along with those of a contemporary romantic couple, Boy and Girl. How
nightmarish can a relationship get? What activities in shared life of a couple can be regarded
as household chores? If this is a horror, who is the final girl? Can violent images in theatre be
considered a refined art or not, and whose authority makes a verdict on that? And the last but
not the least – does love truly go through the stomach? These are just some of the possible
questions that UltraViolence poses for its Audience.

Biography

Dora Golub graduated in dramaturgy and comparative literature. In 2021, she enrolled in postgraduate studies in theatrology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. Since 2014 she has worked as a dramaturge on numerous projects in various theatre institutions in Croatia.
