Short synopsis: An intimate theatrical reflection on the aftermath of the Srebrenica genocide (1995), seen not from the position of history’s distant chroniclers, but from the fragile, everyday lives of those left behind, and those of us who watched it happen. Through the story of Sadika, an elderly woman and survivor living in a Dutch nursing home, this play confronts the legacy of the genocide and the silences that still surround it. The unique immersive audio experience is placing us within Sadika’s mind and memories of her never-born and never-grown children, inviting us to reflect on lives erased and grief unspoken. In a time when new waves of hate speech, revisionism, and nationalism sweep across the Balkans and beyond, this play insists on memory, not as an act of political rhetoric, but as human responsibility, resonating far beyond the borders of the former Yugoslavia. It reminds us that forgetting is not neutral, but a political act.
