Become part of the team behind Sarajevo Theatre Showcase 2026 and gain hands-on experience in organising an international theatre event!
Sarajevo Theatre Showcase is an international platform bringing together artists, playwrights, directors, producers, festival representatives and other theatre professionals from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region and across Europe.
Through performances, stage readings, presentations of new theatre projects, workshops, professional meetings and networking activities, STS presents contemporary regional theatre and creates opportunities for exchange, collaboration and international visibility.
The main programme will take place from Friday, 11 September to Sunday, 13 September 2026.
Volunteer shifts will be organised from 9 to 13 September 2026, according to programme needs and each volunteer’s availability. Activities and preparations will take place throughout the day, including evening shifts. Some performances and activities connected to the opening and closing programmes may continue until approximately 01:00.
Volunteers will be based at our main location, the Bosnian Cultural Centre Sarajevo (BKC), as well as at programme venues including Sarajevo War Theatre SARTR, National Theatre Sarajevo, Chamber Theatre 55, Youth Theatre Sarajevo and other locations across the city.
The call is open to everyone between the ages of 16 and 66.
Previous volunteering, theatre or festival experience is welcome but not required. We are looking for responsible, punctual, communicative and flexible people who are ready to work as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Due to the nature of the programme and the possibility of late-night shifts, priority will be given to applicants aged 18 and over.
Applicants under the age of 18 will be required to provide written consent from a parent or legal guardian.
Knowledge of English is desirable, particularly for positions involving international guests, but it is not required for all volunteer positions. Responsibilities will be assigned according to each volunteer’s availability, interests, experience and language skills.
Applications from outside Sarajevo are welcome. However, please note that Sarajevo Theatre Showcase cannot cover travel or accommodation expenses for volunteers.
