This panel explores the role of professional associations in advancing the position of authors of performing works, with a focus on the example of the Screenwriters and Playwrights Guild of Croatia (SPID). Through the creation of fee schedules, protection of authors’ rights and projects such as New Stages, Applause Doesn’t Pay the Rent and other initiatives aimed at television, film and theatre production, SPID demonstrates how an association can strengthen professional standards and develop the creative capacities of authors.
