Atelier Open call
Organized by the Sarajevo War Theatre - SARTR (BiH), Heartefact Foundation (Serbia), Ulyssis Theatre (Croatia), Para Film and Theatre (Norway) and Binario Vivo (Italy) Sarajevo Theatre Showcase announces an open call for the inaugural Atelier for Playwrights. We invite participants from the following countries to apply: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.
The Atelier is designed as a creative space for developing contemporary dramatic texts through a series of lectures, exercises, and masterclasses tailored to help selected participants refine their works. Renowned European playwrights will mentor participants throughout the process.
The goal of the Atelier is to support emerging voices in the regional drama scene, deepen dialogue within the theater community of the region, and strengthen its dramatic writing.
Emerging artists are individuals aged up to 35 or those who have not yet had more than one professionally produced full-length dramatic text.
The program provides participants with comprehensive support, from the initial idea to the final presentation of the completed text. The call is open to all playwrights holding citizenship of one of the listed countries. Participants should be able to communicate in English. The program will begin in late February 2025 and conclude in September 2025 with a showcase of the selected texts in Sarajevo. Detailed workshop schedules will be shared with chosen participants.
